The Application Process
Every year 32 students (16 students for each semester) from across the Yukon Territory (including Atlin, B.C.) are chosen for the ES11 program.
There is not a specific number of students selected from each school for the program.
Before the final selection process takes place there is an application procedure that must be followed:
Step 1- The ES11 Application Package
All ES11 application packages will be reviewed according to the following criteria:

Step 2- Applicant Reviews
An applicant review committee will collaboratively examine application packages and rank applicants according to the listed weighting areas.
16 students for each semester will be selected. Remaining students will be placed on a confidential waiting list to fill any vacancies that may occur.
Step 3- Notification
All candidates will be notified of the final selection outcome by letters or electronic mail to your school.
Successful candidates must confirm their acceptance or withdrawal to Barb Smith, either by email to [email protected], hand delivered to Wood Street Centre, or through regular mail to 411 Wood Street, Whitehorse, YT, Y1A-2E9.

- The ES11 Application form itself.
- 3 references from specified list on the provided reference forms (20 questions).
- The student has the academic prerequisites to take the courses of Experiential Science 11.
- A report card from the student's Grade 10 school year (with attendance.)
- The evaluation of the mandatory research assignment and application questions.
- No evidence of significant behavioral issues.
Weighting will be based upon:
- references (50%),
- grades (25%),
- Completed application form and research assignment (25%).
